IRMMW-THz 2017 Local Organizing Committee
The International Conference on IRMMW-THz is the oldest and largest continuous forum specifically devoted to the field of ultra high frequency electronics and applications. The conference alternates between Europe, Asia and the Americas on a 3 year cycle. A formal proposal for hosting is due to the International Organizing Committee on January 31, three calendar years in advance of the conference date under consideration.
Dr. Peralta participated in elaborating an international proposal to bring the IRMMW-THz to Cancun, Mexico in 2017. The proposal was selected so the committee is currently working on the organizational aspects of the conference. |

NanoDays
As part of the outreach activities of the PREM grant, Dr. Peralta helped develop and implement NanoDay: a half/full day visit to the Department of Physics and Astronomy where high school students participate in demonstrations and/or inquiry based hands-on learning activities and/or laboratory tours. She interviewed two of the students attending the second visit, documenting the impact of the visit on their view of science and research. She also helped develop and organize a mobile version of NanoDay which was presented at the 3rd and 4th Annual CORE4 STEM Expo hosted by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The event focuses on increasing awareness of college and career goals in the STEM fields among 7th and 8th graders.
