The laboratory consists of 1480 square feet and is divided into three rooms. It is equipped with two laminar flow hoods, one chemical hood for sample preparation, compressed air, two snorkels for fume extraction, a sink with access to tap and deionized water and a gas manifold for compressed gas bottles. There are three optical tables available, 2 workstations for electromagnetic simulations, 3 computers for instrument control, data acquisition and analysis, and a networked solid ink color printer.
Major Lab Equipment
THz TDS (Terahertz Time Domain Spectrometer)Model: Z-3 from ZOmega Terahertz Corporation
This is a turn-key system which is fully computer controlled and includes data acquisition and analysis software. It utilizes a femtosecond infrared laser to generate and detect THz radiation. It is capable of producing broadband THz light up to 3.5 THz and measuring transmission and reflection spectra. The THz source is a photoconductive antenna while the detection is based on a ZnTe electrooptic crystal. The THz source and detector units, the sample, and all the optics used to collect and direct the THz light are contained within an enclosure that can be purged with nitrogen gas or dry air as necessary. |
