3D Printed Models of MetamaterialsScaled (X100) model of an all dielectric cubic metamaterial resonator to produce negative
permeabilities at THz frequencies. A high school student created the model in AutoCAD and used it to print it using a 3D printer available at the Visualization Lab at UTSA (vizlab.utsa.edu). Mobile AppsA high school student volunteer in my laboratory used the App Inventor developed by MIT to build three Mobile Apps. One of the Apps converts between different units used to describe
THz frequencies such as wavelength, wavenumber and energy (see figure), another one gives the size of the cubic resonators needed to produce a response at a certain frequency and the third generates a table of time and position as a person moves from one location to another. Contact Dr. Peralta to obtain a copy of any of the apps. Fluorescent Rowdy based on Rare Earth Nanoparticles
We created different "inks" using different types of rare earth nanoparticles. Using those inks, we painted the head of Rowdy (UTSA's mascot). When illuminated with UV light each ink fluoresces in a different color (blue, yellow/orange).
